Dear Ruth
I am getting to be a shovel expert digging trenches. Sorry to hear that the baby was sick. Hope he is better by this time.
Lynn
This blog is the letters of Chuning family members starting in 1917 when Lynn Chuning was stationed at Palo Alto to undergo training for WWI. See cristihendry.blogspot.com for letters from Edna's mother Sara to Edna and other family members. Aside from a single postcard from Lynn Chuning to his sister, the letters are all written by the women of the family; the letters are the bond that keeps the family together.

It appears that Lynn was in the National Guard in Montana and was called to training for WWI in 1917. National Guard members from the Northwest trained at Camp Fremont in Palo Alto.
ReplyDelete... Lynn apparently never saw combat as the trainees did not get sent to France. Some of the men ended up going to war later in Siberia.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteMore to come...
ReplyDeleteThe baby, Lynn Baker, later died. Very sad.
