    It appears that Lynn was in the National Guard in Montana and was called to training for WWI in 1917. National Guard members from the Northwest trained at Camp Fremont in Palo Alto.

    ... Lynn apparently never saw combat as the trainees did not get sent to France. Some of the men ended up going to war later in Siberia.
